Last weekend, Matt Damon was the host on one of my favorite shows, SNL. In his opening monologue, he shared a story about being an 8-year old boy, visiting his dad’s house every other weekend, and watching the show with him. It was a treat for him to stay up and watch and share laughs, even though it was way past his bedtime. But, as he went on to say, bending the rules was for all the right reasons. It meant creating memories and bonding with family.
As all of you celebrate the holiday season, I want to encourage you to do the same thing with your health and fitness. Don’t feel guilty about skipping the workout. Have the glass of wine and laugh with your sister. Eat the dessert. It’s totally fine to efforts on hold for a day or two, especially if you’re doing it for all the right reasons (my two biggest reasons are right here).
There will be plenty of time after the gifts are unwrapped and the leftovers are gone to get back on track. But, you’ll never get another chance to fully embrace Christmas 2018.
